What You Can Buy with Your FSA/HSA Funds!

I’m really excited about today’s blog because it’s different than a lot of the blogs that I do in the sense that this is very educational in terms of finances. Have you guys ever heard of an FSA or HSA account? Many of you probably already have them and if you don’t have one, I highly recommend either talking to your employer about it or a financial advisor. You can also Google it and find a company that can set one up for you!

For those who don’t know, an FSA stands for Flexible Spending Account and it’s through your employer. An HSA is a Health Savings Account that you can set up without going through an employer (some employer’s do offer them though!).

Using Your Pre-Tax Dollars to Save More!

Both are incredible and allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars to cover eligible medical expenses. Pretax dollars means it’s money you’re not taxed on! Which results in more actual spending money for you and less money to pay in taxes. Got to love that! But what I didn’t realize about these accounts is just how many things are eligible, such as over-the-counter healthcare product or medical expenses. There are so so so many that I had no idea were eligible. Things like vitamins, Tylenol, and even lip balm. So I’m gonna quickly show you some of the items that are eligible that I think could be really helpful to people but also you can go to Walmart’s website here and to see everything eligible. If you have any questions just look for the FSA and HSA eligible badge on the items page. Then keep reading below, I’ll also tell you how to use your FSA/HSA funds to pay for the items.

Okay, so I’ll be real quick, but some of the items just to give you an example of things that are covered are things like One A Day vitamins, Children’s Tylenol, UTI test strips, overnight pads, Claritin for allergies, and even Band-Aids! But what really blew me away is that you can even use your funds for things like CeraVe acne foaming cream face wash and CeraVe hydrating mineral sunscreen!  (use as directed) I had no idea! There are so many other items that are really going to blow you away. When you realize you can use these pretax dollars from your FSA/HSA accounts to buy them.

To purchase them, just make sure you use your FSA/HSA debit card when you check out. If any of the items in your cart aren’t eligible, you will need to add a separate card to complete the purchase to pay for those other items. It really is that easy!

Can’t Wait to Hear What Items You Get with Your HSA/FSA!

I hope this information is helpful to you guys and helps you save more money! I had no idea that I could even use an FSA/HSA card at Walmart, and between them having affordable pricing and being able to use the tax-free dollars to buy these items, it really is just such an incredible way to save money! Let me know what you think in the comments below or if you have any questions, I’ll do my best to answer them!
