Fun & Bright

Happy Sunday Luvs!

Kevin, Molly, and I got back from NYC on Friday. For those of you who are wondering, our trip went really well! However, the flights were a bit challenging. I’m going to do an entire blog post on it soon but for now I’ll just say that it’s much easier traveling with the baby than a toddler! We had our work cut out for us for sure.

The day after we got back we went to an event of that I’ve gone to for the last three years. It’s called the Red CARpet Safety Awareness Event. I love the event because it’s not only a lot of fun and excuse for families to get together, but more importantly the purpose of the event is to create awareness around car seat safety. I don’t know if you guys know this but one in five car seats are installed incorrectly. And on top of that, it’s important to check your car seat frequently to make sure it hasn’t come loose. A few months ago I went to put Molly in her car seat and realized it was SO loose! Now I check how tight the car seat is everything single time I put her in it!

On another note, at the event we had Molly’s new big girl car seat installed! That’s right, she’s officially outgrown her infant car seat and moved into a toddler car seat. I know that’s part of life, kids growing up. But it was a really big deal for us! Our little girl is growing up so fast!

Anyway, if you scroll to the last picture on this post you’ll see that I wore this jacket to the event. I love the jacket so much that I wanted to share details on it with all of you since many of you have an ask me about it. But let me say this, it’s definitely an investment piece! You guys know that I normally only buy for clothes that are super affordable but this was one of those pieces that I just absolutely loved and had to have!

1. FLORAL BOMBER | 2. WHITE TEE | 3. WHITE JEANS | 4. GOLD WATCH | 5. CHUCKS | 6. MOLLY’S ONESIE

As you can see in these pics, I also wore it to a family photo session we have a day with my photographer Ashley Burns. In those photos I wore it with my new favorite basic white T-shirt! You guys already know I love this other T-shirt. I’ve only written about it on my blog about 100 times. But lately I wanted to try something new so I got this new white T-shirt. The main difference between this new one and my old one is that the new one is a scoop neck and the older one is a V-neck. I love them both but I’m so glad that I have a scoopneck option now!

But since I’m wearing a investment piece bomber jacket, I thought I’d wear it with a super affordable watch! The watch I’m wearing at both the event this weekend and in the family photos is only $19! However, it looks really expensive.

Hope you guys love this look! Details on everything below the first pic! Molly’s entire outfit is from Cotton On FYI. The shoes are HERE and the onesie is HERE. I couldn’t find the pants on the site anymore. Maybe they sold out? Let me know in the comments if you guys find them!

If you guys have any helpful info on resources people can use to safely install a car seat, please share in the comments below! Luv you guys!

  1. We just got back from Ireland and I agree, it’s so much harder traveling with a toddler than an infant! Overall though she did so good! (She’s 15 months)
Looooove both of your outfits! Tutus are my favorite!
And regarding the car seat, you can take it to your nearest fire department and they’ll correctly install for you too! (At least they do here in Colorado) 🙂
Thanks for sharing your life with us, Ali! And we just adore watching Molly grow and change. My daughter loves watching the little videos you and Kevin post on insta. xo

    1. Emily, I’m about to travel from Germany to the US with my 15 month curious, energetic boy! We’ve made this flight twice already at 4 and 8 months, but not as a toddler. Do you have any genius tips? 😉 😀

  2. Like I have said before, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Ali never hesitates to share hers. When you put yourself out their you have to know that not everyone is going to agree with you.

  3. You are absolutely right! I sure don’t have 200.00 to invest but those who do go for it! And in my opinion…well never mind. I just mute her insta stories sometimes. Ali is a cutie and I love the blog.

      1. That wasn’t rude. I love Ali. She leaves the comment section open and that’s what I did. Leave a comment. I mute a lot of stories. And I am a genuine honest person. No disguise at all. But thank you for YOUR opinion. Gah.

  4. The lack of kindness in the comments above written under the guise of “honesty” is startling. Thank you for being so positive and willing to share.

      1. I apologize for coming across as rude. I really do. I came back to delete my comment but can’t figure out how. I never want to come across that way to anyone. Sorry girls. Much love to you Ali…I’ve followed you since day one.
        Sincerely, Karen

  5. Is there a secret to keeping your chucks white, or do you just get new ones all the time? I wore mine for just a month or so and they are SO DIRTY, and when I wash them they just turn yellow. The struggle!

    1. Krista, I have the same issue. This sounds a bit drastic, but I soaked them in a bleach/water mix for 24 hours. After soaking and them another wash, they came out looking brand new! I’ve done it a few times now and it has not hurt the shoes. And yes, the struggle is real. 🙂

      1. I make a baking soda paste and scrub it all over the shoes, leave them out in the sun for a few hours, then brush the caked on baking soda off. It’s magic ya’ll.

  6. There are more “affordable” bomber jackets on the website Sanctuary for those that don’t want to spend $200. I love your outfit Ali and Molly is a doll. Cheryl

  7. Just out of curiosity what big girl car seat did you decide to go with. My little one is getting ready to move out of hers. I am leaning towards the Nuna.

    1. She got the Diono Rainier. We have the Diono RadianRXT and we love it! Good for 10 years and top safety ratings, made of all steel!

  8. I can’t wait to hear your blog about travelling. We are suppose to go to Mexico this winter with my daughter she will be 1 at the time. She doesn’t sleep well when she’s not home. My boyfriend and I are actually contemplating not going because we don’t want to be exhausted after our holidays. Any tips about flying, sleeping, etc would be greatly appreciate.

    Ps. Love your jacket 🙂

  9. That event looked so fun! We are going to LA in two weeks (sans baby) and can’t wait to do a little shopping and a lot of eating. Love reading your posts!

  10. Hey Ali – you mentioned you just installed Molly’s big girl car seat…which one did you go with? There are so many out there and we recently switched my son to his big boy car seat. I bought mine based on reviews/ratings/and price. Overall I guess I am happy with the one we chose but I noticed that the shoulder straps sometimes dig into his little neck! I have to look into why that is happening because they seem to be adjusted properly. Need I mention that we had to purchase 3! one for my car, one for my husbands, and one for Grandma! geeesh, talk about an investment piece! I also will say how much pressure I have gotten from other mom’s to switch him to forward facing. smh..how about each parent decide whats best for their own child and thats that!

  11. Thanks so much for posting about car seats, Ali. I actually saw you getting the car seat check on instagram and it spurred me to sign up for a car seat safety check in our area on Wednesday. I appreciate the way you give this information without being preachy. Thank you!

  12. Don’t worry- it gets better! We have traveled a bunch with our now- almost three year old, and the age Molly is currently, was by far the hardest, flight-wise. They are big enough to want to be ALL OVER THE PLACE, but too little to really have a good attention span for games, coloring, movies, etc. We did a five hour flight over the summer (she was about 2.5 at the time), and it was smooth sailing!

  13. I have several friends and family members who have travelled with their littles a lot. They buy the little ones a seat on the plane and take the carseat and install it. A lot of carseats are FAA approved. They said their kids did a lot better sitting in something they were used to because it was like being in the car for them. Plus, it’s a ton safer for the kids to be buckled in for a flight than in a lap, especially during takeoff and landing.

  14. Your family is sooooo adorable, and I have to hand it to all you Moms and Dads flying with little ones…. Not something I ever did ($$$$) but now I think there are so much more acceptance and options for traveling that I commend you!!!! Also, I WANT that floral jacket Ali, I agree, you had to have.. ❤️
