Gosh I love this outfit! Even though it’s 1,000,000,000Β° out outside right now, I’ve been thinking a lot about my fall wardrobe. But, the last thing I’m gonna do is buy anything long sleeve right now. So instead, I’ve been focusing on clothing options that are lightweight and appropriate for summer, but transition perfectly into fall.
This little black dress is one of them! I’m wearing a small although I kind of wish I got my normal size (which is a medium) only because I’ve gained a little bit of weight in the last month so the bigger size would’ve been a little bit better on me. So I would say that if you want to get this dress you could get your normal size or a size down depending on if you’re at your normal weight or carrying a few extra pounds like me. But what I love about this dress is that it’s so slimming! Even though it is a little tight, it still hides everything! And the cut of the dress makes it super chic and stylish.
You can certainly wear this with sandals in the summertime or even with over-the-knee boots in the summertime. Although, I will admit that I was pretty sweaty under those boots. But what’s so great about this simple yet chic black dress is that in the fall you can wear with tights or over the knee boots and just add a cardigan and it would be so cute! It really is the perfect dress to transition to fall.
And I am so excited that stores are starting to stock up on fall products because of my favorite over-the-knee bootsΒ from Sole Society are back in stock! These mushroom OTK boots are uh-mazing!!! See me wearing them last summer/fall HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE to see how versatile they are.
And my clutch is also super functional! I love to carry a clutch when I want a more dressed up and look but it’s so annoying to me that I actually have to carry it and I can’t put it around my shoulder or wrist. What I love about this clutch is it has a strap that you can put over your arm when you don’t feel like holding onto it or you need a free hand, a.k.a. you have to wrangle your children. Ha! It comes in black too FYI.
Hope you guys love this look and find it helpful when thinking about your fall wardrobe! Even when it’s 100Β° outside π

Ali-
You mentioned that you have gained a little weight. You look gorgeous exactly as you are.
You shine a bright light!
I don’t mind the weight gain in everyday life. It’s harder when I’m on TV. But for the most part I just need to be more mindful about what I wear π So I feel good π
Hi Ali! Such an adorable dress and I love the look! You look great and happy and that’s all that matters. Life can be stressful and if our weight fluctuates…so be it! π This is off topic but I think it’s important. I love your post yesterday and you got so many nice comments. That post was near and dear to my heart since I’m getting ready to stop my last nursing session at night with my 13 month old. In reading the comments it seems like a lot of people want to know what sippy cups you use with Molly, why you chose cashew milk vs. whole or other kinds of milk, and my most important question…what is your night time routine with a sippy cup vs. nursing. I’m dreading the transition. π©Thank you in advance for your wonderful blog! I think it is so helpful for mommas and for fashion so keep up the great work! π
It’s a Zoli sippy cup. We just give it to her before bed (same time I would have nursed). Cashew milk is a personal decision. I rather not explain why since I don’t want to be criticized for my personal decision π Maybe I will feel more comfortable in the future.
Thank you for answering this as I asked the same question in your last blog post. Was there any specific reason why you switched from the b box to the zoli? Also, is Molly still fine drinking water out of the zoli even though that’s where she also gets her milk?
Thank you for sharing and you look amazing by the way! Love your blog and appreciate the openness you have with us.
Yes, thank you so much Ali! I appreciate you responding and for your help and honesty. I know you are an inspiration to so many mommas out there!
We just were given a Zoli as a gift. But we like both! Zoli also has a bigger size that we like π
And you know what, now that I think of it she drinks a lot less water now that she gets milk from those cups. But I think that’s ok because there is water in cashew milk and she drinks a TON more milk now that she can feed herself with her sippy cup.
Huge help! Thank you!!!
I also wanted to apologize for your breakdown this morning. I suffered from sciatica (lower back pain) a couple years ago and it returned the last couple weeks of my pregnancy and then again around the time my daughter was 3 or 4 months old and it is very frustrating and discouraging. Praying you find relief very soon!
I have been drinking unsweetened cashew milk since it came on the market. It has more calcium in it than dairy and its incredibly healthy. I can’t believe people judge others, including moms, on making a smarter, healthier decision for anyone… self or child. Dairy is pretty awful for many reasons. Research is out there people. Kudos Ali!
Ali, your outfit is the cutest! I haven’t worn dresses with long boots for a long time, definitely going to bring that back!

Over the knee boots are the BEST!
I love that look! Sadly the color I want is out of stock. π
I don’t believe they are carrying the color you’re wearing anymore either.

I would do strapless or a bralette
I’m so excited for the fall! I bought a lot of stuff during the Nsale for the fall. I already purchased my booties on Zappos! Cheryl
I’m sure you’ll rock them!
New reader here! Love this outfit, those boots are gorgeous. Fall is my favourite season for weather and clothing (hello layering!) π I can’t wait to see more of your autumn style!
Hi Megan! Welcome to the blog! Hope you love it! I love to share affordable fashion, recipes, and personal stories about life and motherhood. Hope you enjoy it! xoxo
Hey Ali!
I’m especially excited for your upcoming fall fashion posts because fall is my favorite season! I’m 23 and just moved to Nashville to pursue a career on the business side of the music industry. The best way I’ve been coping with moving far from home into this new life has been blogging about the journey. I just wanted you to know that you and your blog inspire me every single day and I hope to inspire others just like you do! Thanks for inviting me into bits and pieces of your life!!
Love,
Kelly
Ali, you said you were going off pasta in the morning. Why were you consuming pasta in the morning? Is it an energy thing?
You are looking impressive in this outfit !! I was going to wait to wear my over the knee boots until Fall but then I saw you in grey over the knee boots. You inspired me to step out in my boots early with a shirtdress. Itβs such a simple duo that is uber comfy while still very sleek.
I’m late on this but I just wanted to say how much I LOVE LOVE your blog especially the fashion section. I’d like to hope that I am normally well dressed and put together but I struggle shopping! I wouldn’t consider myself a fashionista by any means so it’s not always easy putting pieces together.
Your blog has totally changed that! Call me unoriginal but needing a new outfit and coming to your blog is my new favorite thing to do! I started ordering several of your outfits last fall and I honestly couldn’t be happier. The guess work is taken out for me and I automatically know I will look great! Everything fits so awesome also.
Love your style and love your choices- can’t wait to purchase this dress and boots above for a hello fall look! xo
