Cozy and Cute

Happy Tuesday! Or as we like to call it “garbage truck day” in our house! It’s so cute because Molly is absolutely obsessed with the garbage trucks that come by to pick up the trash. Every time she hears one she runs to the front room and has me pick her up so she can watch them out the window. It’s adorable!

So we spent this morning playing and watching the garbage trucks. But I’m at work now and honestly sometimes going to work feels like a little bit of a break. I remember somebody telling me that before I had Molly and I thought, really?? Going to work is a break for you? But now I totally get it! Work really is like a bit of a break from motherhood. Because motherhood really is the hardest job of all! The best job, but the hardest.

Anyway, it’s a little chilly here in LA so I wanted to keep warm with a poncho and boots this morning. Almost everything I’m wearing is from Sole Society. So if you like this look you can easily get it with one order. Really the only thing that’s not from Sole Society are my leggings and they are actually on sale for only $11 right now! Insane right?! They are usually $19 which is such a great price but they’re on sale for $11 right now. And mine are from last season. So that gives you an idea of how well they hold up. I for sure thought I’d only get one season out of them. But nope they’re still going strong!

My grey poncho, over-the-knee boots and purse are all from Sole Society. I absolutely love this poncho because it keeps me super warm, it is so easy to throw on with leggings and they look great together. On the website the model is wearing it sideways. I would wear it with the longest part in the middle (like I am in the below photos). Basically it draws the eye down and elongates your body. I personally like to wear ponchos with larger boots. What I mean by that is boots that either go to the top of the calf or over the knee. I feel like the chunkier boot balances out the width of the poncho. That way you don’t look like you’re just drowning in a poncho. Also, I’ve put on a few pounds the past month so I feel like this is a good way to cover up all that bloat I have going on.

Oh and I love the boots I switched into when I went to work. I just got them so I wanted to wear them! The above picture taken at Home & Family are THESE boots.

Anyway, just thought I’d share the link with all of you! Hope you have a great “garbage truck day!”

  1. My 16 month old daughter is totally obsessed with the garbage truck too! And she loves the mailman and UPS drivers too 🙂 Too cute. I was able to snap a pic of her and her dad this morning looking out the window together and my heart instantly melted. You and your family are precious Ali!

  2. My compliments to the set-up people at Home & Family. It’s beautiful.
I agree with you that Motherhood is the hardest yet most rewarding job.
Molly’s not the only one who likes garbage trucks…
(the strong people throwing the garbage in the trucks are pretty amazing too) ha
You look darling, as always Ali.

  3. Haha! My 2yo niece also loves garbage trucks, who would have thought they’d be so fascinating?!?

We got her this cute little book about a garbage truck (http://amzn.to/2jwQSqd) and she LOVES it — sharing in case Molly would also enjoy!

  4. Congrats! 🎉 Our second is due in March and they will be 22-months apart too 😍 This pregnancy has gone by SO much faster. I’m nervous to care for an infant and toddler since I work from home and don’t get that “break” .. ever 😳

  5. Just saw your Instagram post!! So thrilled for you and your family!! Guess that’s why you’ve been feeling off lately!!! Xoxo

  6. Love the pancho!! Also laughed after seeing your announcement post on insta and then reading you say “Also, I’ve put on a few pounds the past month so I feel like this is a good way to cover up all that bloat I have going on.” lol! CONGRATS!

  7. Congrats Ali on the exciting news!! I had a feeling when you shared you were taking some long naps! 😉 SO EXCITING. Molly will be a great big sister.

  8. Congrats on the pregnancy! The announcement was so beautiful! And I liked the line about you putting on a few pounds this month. 😉

  9. PLEASE proofread — or have someone else proofread — your work!!! I found all the “mistakes” so distracting, actually making it irritating to read through your post. I sincerely do not mean to offend you. All the mistakes detract from your message and ideas and result in you coming across as unprofessional and not so bright, neither of which I believe to be the case.

  10. haha! my daughter was obsessed with school buses! Of course I then had to go and buy every toy schoolbus I could find. Lucky for you maybe toy garbage trucks are harder to find! lol

  11. I love reading your posts, but could you hire me to edit before you post? There are quite a few grammatical errors that bug people like me… I can’t focus on the post when I keep stopping and correcting what I’m reading.
    Two examples:
    1. It is not “I member” it’s “I remember”
    2. “There” is different than “they’re” which is also different than “their”
There: “there it goes” “she went there”
They’re: it’s THEY and ARE put together “they’re going to a party”
Their: this is for possession “that car is theirs” “their house is down the street”

Please have your posts proof read. 🙂

    1. I agree. I love reading your blog Ali and I know pregnancy brain is a B**** so maybe you could hire someone to review your blog before you post? A mistake here and there is understandable but this really is riddled with errors. You also said “longest art” and “chunkier boo” instead of longest part and chunkier boot. Honestly only love and kudos to you for running this website and posting so much but you’s represent yourself better with a proofreader 🙂 P.S. congratulations on your pregnancy! I’m four months postpartum with my first and I’ve enjoyed reading all your posts about Molly and motherhood, they ring so true!

      1. Lol and of course I have an error in my post so I’m the pot calling the kettle black!! *You’d instead of you’s.

    2. I have 90% of my posts proof read by Kevin. Not this one. And I know the difference between all those. I have two jobs and am a full time mom. I’m trying.

      1. You’re the best Ali! I am truly in awe of all you do (my little one is 7 months old and I still can barely shower some days..). Thanks for writing — I love your blog, and the naysayers can go elsewhere, I’m happy to stay right here!

      2. Ali, don’t let these people nag you – I love your blog posts! It must be really tough finding something new to blog about six or seven times per week, and you’re doing a great job.

      3. If you have two jobs you can’t be a full time mom. I get the feeling that Kevin does at least 50% of the parenting, and by your own admission he does all of the cooking, cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping. We should all be so lucky!

      4. Love you, Ali. You are doing a great job at being a mom, wife, homemaker and working mom. I am a teacher and quite honestly any grammar errors don’t bother me. Many of us have busy lives. We all make mistakes. I read your blog and I am not here to critique you. I get what you are writing. 😉 XO
