Spring Looks with Dark Colors

Hi Friends! Just because it’s springtime is doesn’t mean that EVERY outfit you wear has to be light and bright! Dark colors definitely still work for spring you just need to look out for little details that make an outfit more spring and less fall. And we all know that darker colors are more slimming so I am alllllll for a cute dark colors for spring!

Today’s look is a perfect example. It’s a navy dress which is typically thought of as a fall color. But what makes this springtime appropriate is the ruffles around the edges. It’s just adds a little bit a femininity that makes this dress feel more flirty for spring! And I LOVE this dress. I think it’s so flattering and cute. But FYI, I am going to put a stitch in the center of the dress is keep it from falling open. I’m actually surprised it didn’t come with a little button to keep it closed. But that said, I absolutely love it!!! Since I haven’t put the stitch in yet, I wore a pretty bralette underneath so it wouldn’t matter if my bra showed. I actually like the look with the bra showing. It’s very coachella 😉 But if having a cute little bralette showing isn’t your style, the just add a little stitch to the top of the dress and you are good to go! I’m wearing a medium FYI and I think it fits true to size.

Other ways to make dark colors feel more springtime is with polka dots, florals, lace, and wearing a light fabric like chiffon. Here are some of my favorites under $75…

I’m wearing one of my favorite pedant necklaces with this dress in today’s look. It goes with SOOO many things and it’s not the typical plain old bar necklace. You can see me wearing it HERE and HERE too.

My heels are Raye and super comfortable. I wore them on Home & Family today too. Did you guys see I co-hosted again? If you missed it, it re-airs tomorrow on the Hallmark channel at 12pm/11c.

Finished the look with my “Daughter” bracelet that I wear for little Molly and one of my go-to bags this season. You can see me carrying it with THIS LOOK and THIS LOOK.

Hope you guys love the look and are inspired to wear some dark colors this spring!

  1. Love your blog and your cute outfits! Is this dress breastfeeding friendly? I really struggle to find clothes that look cute and that also function for nursing mothers. I’m not sure if you’ve done a blog post on that, but I’d love it!!

  2. I LOVE this dress. Especially without a stitch in the center… This better shows the contrast between the dark and the light. Sensual!
