One other thought to share. It use to be that first row behind first class was larger. I was told by a flight attendant many years ago it is bigger because it use to have space for bassinets. We used it whenever it was available even when our child was older.

I am a Grandma with two beautiful Granddaughters 1 and 3. Just a suggestion for you to make future trips easier. Buy a set of those heavier items to leave at Grandma's like a pack n play and stroller and travel with car seat if you use it on the plane. My Grandchildren are close by but I buy everything to have here at my home so the kids can come here anytime without needing anything and can be comfortable. I am guessing most trips would be to go back home.
